It's Christmas time now, so I thought it could be fun to look at some modern Christmas stories for the month. Today, I want to talk about Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

I have talked to some of my students about this character and they seem to know about him. But, they don't know all of the details. There is a very famous film made in 1964 that showcases his story.

The idea is that Rudolf is a very special reindeer. He was born with a nose that would glow bright red. This caused him to stand out in the crowd and the other reindeer would bully him. But one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa was in trouble. He couldn't see to fly the sleigh so Christmas would be canceled! But, Rudolf saved the day with his glowing red nose to light the way for Santa.

This story has survived many generations and has made Rudolf as popular of a character as Santa Claus himself.
