Spring is finally in the air! March is a month of transition in Japan—a time for saying goodbye at graduation ceremonies and saying hello to the cherry blossoms. At INCL Eikaiwa, it’s also the perfect time to "march" forward with your English goals!

1. Hinamatsuri: Celebrating Growth (ひな祭り：成長をお祝いしよう)

On March 3rd, we celebrate Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day or Doll’s Festival). Families pray for the happiness and healthy growth of girls.

3月3日はひな祭りですね。女の子の健やかな成長と幸せを願う行事です。

Useful English Vocabulary:

• Peach blossoms: 桃の花
• Doll display: 雛人形の飾り
• Rice crackers: ひなあられ

English Phrase to try:

• "We decorated the Hina dolls at my house!" （家に雛人形を飾ったよ！）

2. Graduation & Farewell Season (卒業と別れの季節)

March is the season of Graduation Ceremonies. It can be a little sad to say goodbye to friends and teachers, but it is also an exciting step toward the future. In English-speaking countries, graduation is often called "Commencement," which actually means "a beginning."

3月は卒業式のシーズンです。友達や先生との別れは少し寂しいですが、未来へのワクワクする一歩でもあります。英語圏では、卒業式のことを "Commencement" と呼ぶこともあります。これには「始まり」という意味があるんですよ。

Congratulate your friends in English:

• "Congratulations on your graduation!"（卒業おめでとう！）
• "Good luck with your next step!"（次のステップも頑張ってね！）
