Fall has always been a special season for me, I love the changing colors, the trees that fling forth one final scene of delight and beauty before shedding their leaves and awakening from their long slumber to greet the winter. The air always carries the slight aroma of sweet spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, subtle and enticing. I'm reminded of a poem by the famous English romanticist poet John Keats who also wrote about the splendor of this season.

"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,

   Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

Conspiring with him how to load and bless

   With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,

   And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

      To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

   With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,

Until they think warm days will never cease,

      For summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells."

I'm looking forward to enjoying the beauty of nature this season.

秋は私にとっていつも特別な季節です。色とりどりの紅葉、そして葉を落とし、長い眠りから目覚めて冬を迎える前に、喜びと美しさの最後の光景を繰り広げる木々が大好きです。空気はいつも、シナモンやナツメグといった甘いスパイスのほのかな香りを漂わせています。それは繊細で魅惑的です。イギリスのロマン主義詩人、ジョン・キーツの詩を思い出します。彼もまた、この季節の素晴らしさについて詠っています。


霧と熟れた果実いっぱいの季節
　実りをもたらす太陽と気脈を通じた友
太陽と示し合わせて藁屋根の軒端の蔓に
　ブドウの実をたわわに恵み結ばせる。
庭先の苔むした樹々をリンゴの実でしならせ
　実という実をその芯までずっしりと熟れさせる。
ヒョウタンをふくらませ、ハシバミの殻を
甘い仁(じん）でふとらせる。また蜜蜂のために
　遅咲きの花を次から次へと聞かせるから
　蜂たちは暖い日々がいつまでも続くと思ってしまう。
　蜜房は夏集めた蜜ですでに溢れているのだ。

今シーズンは自然の美しさを楽しむのが楽しみです。
