August is the peak of summer! It’s the time for family reunions, colorful fireworks festivals, and making the most of every sunny day. Whether you are relaxing in the countryside or staying cool in the city, August is a month to create memories that last a lifetime.

8月、夏本番ですね！家族が集まるお盆休み、夜空を彩る花火大会、そして晴れ渡る日々。田舎でのんびり過ごす方も、街中で涼む方も、8月は一生モノの思い出を作る季節です。

1. Talking About Obon (「お盆」を英語で説明してみよう)

Many people visit their hometowns during Obon. It is a unique Japanese tradition. If you meet someone from another country, here is how you can explain it in English:

お盆休みには帰省する方も多いですよね。お盆は日本独自の伝統行事です。海外の方に会ったら、こんな風に英語で説明してみましょう。

• English Phrase: "Obon is a Japanese holiday to honor the spirits of our ancestors." （お盆は、先祖の霊を祀る日本の休日です。）
• English Phrase: "I went to my grandparents' house in the countryside." （田舎の祖父母の家に行きました。）

2. Summer Festivals and Fireworks (夏祭りと花火)

August in Shizuoka is famous for beautiful fireworks displays. Let’s learn some words to describe the night sky!

静岡の8月といえば、美しい花火大会が有名ですね。夜空を彩る花火を表現する言葉を覚えましょう！

• Fireworks display: 花火大会
• Food stalls: 屋台
• "The fireworks were breathtaking!" (花火は息をのむほど綺麗だった！)
• "I wore a 'yukata' to the festival." (お祭りには浴衣を着て行きました。)
