The weather in Japan is a lot more different than the weather in my hometown. One thing as an American that can be very difficult is the weather guage in Japan that is used to determine the temperature. During my time in Japan I had to move learn more about Celsius whereas in America we use Fahrenheit. While living in Tokyo, my friend who was from Finland, knew both systems explained to me very well about celsius and fahrenheit. In celsius, 0 is where water freezes, but in fahrenheit it is around 32 degrees. The best way to explain fahrenheit is like a percentage. For example, if it is 70 degrees outside with fahrenheit, then it is 70% hot. if it is 0 degrees fahrenheit, then it is 0% hot. This is how my Finnish friend explained it to me and it just made sense. Even though was explained to me I still have trouble with this system. Sometimes I would see that it is only 23 degrees celsius and put on a coat outside going outside and realize before it is too late that it was way too hot for a coat. This is the struggles of an American in Japan.
